Hybrid Seed's

The total market-size for seeds in India is estimated at approximately Rs.5,000 crores - comprising of seed retained by the farmer (Rs.3,500 crores), public bred seeds (Rs. 1,300 crores) and research hybrids (Rs.200 crores).

However, over the years, a steady shift of farmer preference has been observed, from public bred seeds research hybrids. This has been largely due to a significant improvement in yield, duration and disease resistant characteristics, all of which translate into great profits for the farmer. Hindustan Agrigenetics has playe quiet but important role in this market scenario, by concentrating its efforts on R & D and developing germplasm lines which are the basic building blocks fo new hybrid seeds development. Therefore the Compa has a large bank of elite germplasm lines spread over 8 field crops and 14 vegetable crops. In addition to this a strong R & D focus and plant breeding infrastructure ha given the Company a competitive edge and has helped successfully develop proprietary hybrid seeds in six cro of national importance - Sunflower, Cotton, Jowar, Bajra Jowar Fodder and Mustard.
